Ezra Limiri Mbogori describes himself as an ardent observer of life and living. Having been a civil society practitioner in the human rights and social justice space all his working life, he feels that the transfer of leadership from the older generation – Africa’s liberation ‘heros’ and ‘sheroes’ – to the class that currently leads was badly mismanaged and has resulted in the creation of the numerous misfits we encounter today – hence the state of affairs that we find ourselves in. It is perhaps a testament of his Harvard training that explains his conviction that it is now our responsibility to find ways of stimulating the next generation to take the reigns of power and manage responsibly going forward. Involvement in Children’s World hopefully makes a small contribution to this end. Ezra is married to Liz Wanjiru and they have three daughters – Nkatha, Kanyiha and Kagendo and a granddaughter from whom, he observes, they have learned afresh, that despite everything, life can be a charming experience.
